{"id":31909,"date":"2021-02-18T12:32:58","date_gmt":"2021-02-18T12:32:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.shefnews.co.uk\/?p=31909"},"modified":"2021-02-18T12:32:58","modified_gmt":"2021-02-18T12:32:58","slug":"20000-jewellery-thief-charged","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/02\/18\/20000-jewellery-thief-charged\/","title":{"rendered":"Thief who stole \u00a320,000 worth of jewellery charged"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A 34-YEAR-OLD man has been sentenced to over 3 years in prison for stealing nearly \u00a320,000 worth of jewellery.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Anthony Wragg appeared in Sheffield Crown Court yesterday where he was sentenced for charges of burglary and handling stolen goods which he pleaded guilty to at an earlier hearing.<\/p>\n<p>On 11<sup>th<\/sup> December last year Wragg broke into a property on Newcroft Close in Sheffield and stole a significant amount of jewellery, including a pendant that belong to the late mother of one of the victims.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Detective Sergeant Dean Craik from Sheffield\u2019s dedicated burglary team said that they managed to catch him using CCTV recovered from door-to-door enquiries which showed the crucial moment of Wragg committing the crime.<\/p>\n<p>ADS Craik said: \u201cI am really pleased that we were able to recover the items of jewellery, especially the pendant which was irreplaceable given its significant emotional value\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He added that his team searched two properties connected to Wragg\u2019s where they seized more items of jewellery and four valuable bicycles that had been reported stolen from a separate burglary in Sheffield in October 2020 which were able to be returned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anthony Wragg appeared in Sheffield Crown Court yesterday where he was sentenced for charges of burglary and handling stolen goods which he pleaded guilty to at an earlier hearing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":166,"featured_media":31911,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[27,43,21],"tags":[57,59,38,131],"class_list":["post-31909","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-crime","category-culture","category-news","tag-crime","tag-police","tag-sheffield","tag-south-yorkshire"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.1.1 -
