{"id":32349,"date":"2021-02-25T13:35:21","date_gmt":"2021-02-25T13:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.shefnews.co.uk\/?p=32349"},"modified":"2021-02-25T13:35:21","modified_gmt":"2021-02-25T13:35:21","slug":"mental-health-charity-tackles-the-pandemic-to-empower-young-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/02\/25\/mental-health-charity-tackles-the-pandemic-to-empower-young-people\/","title":{"rendered":"Mental Health charity tackles the pandemic to empower young people"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Yorkshire charity ChilyPep dedicates to promoting the wellbeing and rights of young people, despite challenges brought on by the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Becky Batley, a Mental Health Participation Project Worker for ChilyPep, works alongside young people with her team on mental health campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the lockdowns, Becky and her team have been providing emotional support for coping with bereavement and support to manage young people\u2019s mental health.<\/p>\n<p>Becky said: \u201cThe pandemic has been very challenging for us as youth workers- the switch to working from home and only being allowed to run our groups online has definitely had its toll.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of young people spend their weeks on Zoom or Microsoft Teams doing their schoolwork, so when their groups are also online, it can be hard for them to join us.
