{"id":33040,"date":"2021-03-04T12:59:18","date_gmt":"2021-03-04T12:59:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.shefnews.co.uk\/?p=33040"},"modified":"2021-03-04T12:59:18","modified_gmt":"2021-03-04T12:59:18","slug":"possible-plans-to-connect-kelham-to-sheffield-city-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/03\/04\/possible-plans-to-connect-kelham-to-sheffield-city-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Possible plans to connect Kelham to Sheffield city centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sheffield City Council have held a consultation in their hopes to connect Sheffield.<\/p>\n<p>The new route would link Neepsend \u2013 Kelham \u2013 City Centre<\/p>\n<p>The consultation, which ended on 3 March, was a new approach designed to transform travel throughout Sheffield, via high-quality cycling paths, walking infrastructure and improved routes for bus services and public transport.<\/p>\n<p>Their promise was to also make environmental improvements.<\/p>\n<p>Kelham Island has become a huge hit among tourists, making it a vibrant visitor destination.<\/p>\n<p>The hope is that connecting the 3 areas of Sheffield should help to accelerate the development of Neepsend and Kelham.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed measures would help Neepsend and Kelham become an \u2018Active Neighbourhood\u2019, with lower traffic volumes, turning the space into a safer and more pleasant area for events and cafes.<\/p>\n<p>Some local residents do not feel that this proposal will work, and many say it would be a waste of public spending.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_33044\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33044\" class=\"wp-image-33044 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2021\/03\/Screenshot-2021-03-04-at-12.41.53-300x82.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"82\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-33044\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One user took to Twitter to voice his opinions<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The improved environment plans for cycling and walking through the \u2018active neighbourhood\u2019 in Neepsend and Kelham would continue along Russell Street through a section of landscaping.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed plan would liven up the area with landscaping, planting and new trees to be added along the routes around West Bar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_33046\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33046\" class=\"wp-image-33046 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2021\/03\/Screenshot-2021-03-04-at-12.43.37-300x63.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"63\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-33046\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Other Twitter users believe this plan could help to revive the newly thriving areas of Sheffield<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sheffield City Council have held a consultation in their hopes to connect Sheffield.
