The Barbados Sea Turtle Project works to restore local marine turtle populations to re-establish levels, so they can fulfil their ecological roles.<\/p>\n
In 2020, the non-profit organization rescued over 40,000 hatchlings, but they suspect that numbers won\u2019t be so high this year.<\/p>\n
Carla Daniel, field director, said: \u201cI do think that there was an increased in mortality for hatchlings, due to our inability to be vigilant during this time.\u201d<\/p>\n
The project relies heavily on calls from locals and tourists to their 24 hour hotline to get to the scene quickly to rescue the turtles.<\/p>\n
