This boycott signifies our collective anger at the damage this causes to the people who play, watch and work in the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy removing ourselves from the platforms, we are making a symbolic gesture to those with power. We need you to act. We need you to create change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The stand, which has unified teams from all over the country, will start at 3pm on Friday 30 April and end at 11.59pm on Monday 3 May.<\/p>\n<p>Edleen John, the FA\u2019s Co-Partner for Equality, Diversion and Inclusion, said: \u201cIt\u2019s simply unacceptable that people across English football and society more broadly continue to be subjected to discriminatory abuse online on a daily basis, with no real-world consequences for the perpetrators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSocial media companies need to be held accountable if they continue to fall short of their moral and social responsibilities to address this endemic problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sheffield United released a statement on Saturday evening, declaring their support for the boycott.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_35687\" style=\"width: 282px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-35687\" class=\"wp-image-35687 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2021\/04\/Screenshot-2021-04-29-at-09.40.54-300x168.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"272\" height=\"152\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-35687\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Sheffield United have voiced their support.<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>They said: \u201cThe FA, Premier League, EFL, FA Women\u2019s Super League, FA Women\u2019s Championship, PFA, LMA, PGMOL, Kick It Out, Women in Football and the FSA will unite for a social media boycott in response to the ongoingand sustained discriminatory abuse received online by players and many others connected to football.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a collection, the game recognises the considerable reach and value of social media to our sport.
