A Sheffield violinist has been performing doorstep concerts since the start of the pandemic hoping to bring a touch of positivity to peoples’ lives.<\/p>\n

Adrian Garratt started playing for locals after performing at a friend\u2019s birthday. The 48-year-old violinist has played over 300 concerts across London since starting his business and has now began entertaining the people of Sheffield after moving to the city a month ago.<\/p>\n

The musician said: \u201cLast April everything was weird and new, lots of people were doing things that were lockdown specific, so I think it captured the imagination of the community where I lived. Lots and lots of people were interested.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Garratt stepped in when people were unable to celebrate special occasions throughout the pandemic and was hired to appear at birthdays and Christmas carols during the last lockdown. He plays a variety of music from classical to pop and even Disney songs.<\/p>\n

Jackie and Alan Martindale who lives on Adrian\u2019s Street, Sheffield, commissioned him to perform for them and other neighbours on their street on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

After the concert, Mrs Martindale said: \u201cIt was wonderful, I really enjoyed it, and it was so versatile\u201d<\/p>\n

Her husband added: \u201cI think the repertoire was astonishing, the range of things he could play, you couldn\u2019t believe it, without music.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adrian is planning to continue the concerts even as restrictions are lifted.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI\u2019m really happy to do them and the response was pretty overwhelming I find them really good fun, it\u2019s a really lovely thing for me to do, it\u2019s lovely for the people that I play to. The response is generally really positive, so I\u2019m very happy to continue to do them whatever the situation with Covid.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even though Adrian is continuing the doorstep concerts he is looking forward to the return of\u00a0 live music events.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI\u2019m excited obviously, as long as they can happen in a way that doesn\u2019t put us all back in lockdown . I\u2019ve been fortunate because a lot of what I do is solo so I\u2019ve been able to perform.\u201d<\/p>\n
