A Sheffield hospital professor hailed as ‘inspirational’ for his work improving children’s lives was shortlisted for a prestigious award.<\/h4>\n

Professor Paul D<\/span>imitri<\/a> , Professor of Child Health and Consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology at Sheffield Children\u2019s Hospital, was a finalist <\/span>in the Health Tech Newspaper Now Awards as Health Tech Leader of the Year.<\/span><\/h4>\n

He was nominated for his passion for improving the lives of children.<\/p>\n

Prof Dimitri drove innovation and brought together people from NHS organisations, universities, charities and many more.<\/p>\n

One example of Prof Dimitri’s work is he established the UK\u2019s first-ever Child Health Technology Conference which was held in 2021.<\/p>\n

He is seen to have revolutionised healthcare for patients now and for generations to come.<\/p>\n

Prof Dimitri has worked on a number of innovative projects with Sheffield Hallam University, integrating technology into healthcare.<\/p>\n

Principal Research Fellow and Director of the Impact VR Lab at Sheffield Hallam University, Ivan Phelan<\/a> said: \u201cPaul\u2019s leadership and determination to develop Sheffield Children\u2019s as a leader in child health technology is truly inspirational.<\/p>\n

“I have seen first-hand how he strives to adopt innovations while always ensuring to put the patients\u2019 needs first.\u201d<\/p>\n

For around a decade, Prof Dimitri has been leading research and innovation at Sheffield Children\u2019s NHS Foundation Trust.<\/p>\n

Chief Executive at Sheffield Children\u2019s NHS Foundation Trust, Ruth Brown<\/a> said: “Professor Dimitri\u2019s energy and passion is infectious, and has made an impact on the experience of patients, families and staff across a number of organisations as well as Sheffield Children\u2019s Hospital.”<\/p>\n

Wendy Tindale OBE<\/a>, Clinical Director of NIHR Devices for Dignity MedTech Co-operative and Scientific and Innovation Director at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, said: \u201cPaul is passionate about technology for child health and promotes the voice of children and the need for child-specific healthcare technology at every opportunity.”<\/p>\n

With the guidance of Prof Dimitri, the Trust has emerged as one of the leading research centres for children and young people.<\/p>\n

Sheffield Children\u2019s Hospital have said they are immensely proud of the innovative work happening across the Trust to improve the care of children and young people and Prof Dimitri has a vital part to play in the progress of it.<\/p>\n

The Health Tech Newspaper Awards help to share and celebrate digital teams, programmes, innovations and health tech suppliers that have made a difference through the year.<\/p>\n
