{"id":40073,"date":"2022-02-17T13:34:40","date_gmt":"2022-02-17T13:34:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.shefnews.co.uk\/?p=40072"},"modified":"2022-02-17T13:34:40","modified_gmt":"2022-02-17T13:34:40","slug":"sheffield-cyclist-calls-for-major-improvements-on-city-roads-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/index.php\/2022\/02\/17\/sheffield-cyclist-calls-for-major-improvements-on-city-roads-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield cyclist calls for major improvements on city roads"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A scared Sheffield cyclist has appealed to the city council for major safety improvements in the city&#8217;s roads.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ann Gregory, a nurse who cycles to work at Page Hall Medical Centre everyday expressed:<\/span>\u00a0&#8220;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I feel scared that I might be badly injured or killed by vehicles being driven too fast, aggressively, or carelessly.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NHS nurse practitioner has had several misses after drivers opened their doors without looking and is often &#8216;blinded&#8217; by flashing back lights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ms Gregory said: \u201cVehicles often pass the cyclist far too close, again this is terrifying at times, particularly if it is a large lorry or bus.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I really don&#39;t think there is any public road in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Sheffield?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Sheffield<\/a> that is safe for a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/cyclist?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#cyclist<\/a>.
