Jason’s new book, ‘Ain’t Got A Barrel Of Money’<\/p><\/div>\n
The book focuses on the 70s period where in 1975, Sheffield United finished sixth in Division One, playing some of the most exciting football in the country.<\/p>\n
However, within six years they had gone from the brink of greatness to relegation to the fourth division.<\/p>\n
Whilst there are other accounts from players around this time, \u2018Ain\u2019t Got A Barrel Of Money\u2019 details the seven year period with a variety of stories that make the story unique.<\/p>\n
The author said: \u201cThere are stories from fans, players and I don\u2019t think there has ever been a book that has got so many different people\u2019s input in it. I hope it won\u2019t be but it could be the last book where anyone speaks to these players.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is so much more scope for more books because there are different time periods like 1981 to 91 where United work themselves back up the divisions, so I could definitely see potential for sequels.\u201d<\/p>\n
The title of the book comes from a Sheffield United chant adapted from a war time song where fans sing \u201cAin\u2019t got a barrel of money, but we’ve got Woodward and Currie\u201d. The lyrics were then changed to “ain’t got Woodward and Currie” in reference to the sale of two star players from the time.<\/p>\n
