On the second week of March every year since 2015, a city-wide beer celebration is hosted across multiple venues in Sheffield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The week-long beer festival, returning for it’s ninth year, honours Sheffield\u2019s brewing landscape, even in this week’s snow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sheffield Beer Week, a tradition founded by Jules Gray and Clare Tollick, launched on Monday 6th,<\/sup> and will close on Sunday 12th<\/sup>, and so far, it has been a success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jules Gray, the head organiser of Sheffield Beer week said: “Imagine a week where breweries hold open days for visitors to explore, pubs host beer festivals, bars have tap takeovers and restaurants offer menus with tailored beer pairings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEvery day there will be a unique beer event to enjoy!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over 30 national and international breweries, pubs and bars have joined forces to create various events, highlighting the world of beer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, an amber weather warning and heavy snowfall on Thursday night affected public transport, but will it stop the beer lovers?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Sheffield Beer Week social media spokesperson said: “We\u2019re just finding out venue by venue. But a number do seem to be opening up and I would advise checking directly with venues also. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“(The) City centre seems to be getting cleared and it\u2019s just taking a little time for buses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A live feed from their Twitter page is notifying people with fun updates on beer activities, whilst also keeping people posted on the snow conditions and public transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today\u2019s local venues open for trade include: Rutland Arms, Brewery of St Mars of the Desert, BrewSocial, The Broadfield, The Crow Inn and Shakespeare\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\nSheffield Beer Week 2023<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
The theme of the week for 2023 is ‘Going Back To Our Beer Roots’, and the reactions have been positive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Peter Hudson, Beer Week participant, said: “I’m impressed with some good tap takeovers this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Nice to see some breweries opening over the next two days.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
