We cannot ignore the devastating effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAll of this work supports Sheffield\u2019s Clean Air Plan which will improve air quality and improve the health of our population.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bus gate will only apply for traffic heading northbound and will cause drivers to change their routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only bus taxes and other authorised vehicles will be able to pass through without receiving a fixed penalty fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Warning and direction signs to avoid the bus gates will be prominently placed for road users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gate has been brought in for 18 months by the Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO), in which the public can provide feedback on the running of the gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The installation is one of several measures introduced by the council to reduce pollution, including the Green Air Zone (CAZ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luke Hassan, 47, an owner of a 2015 Peugeot E7 taxi, said: \u201cI\u2019m glad that this is coming because it means that there won\u2019t be as much congestion and pollution levels will drop in a very busy area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"49349\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/03\/Arundel-Gate-Bus-route.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49349\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new bus gate is being introduced on Arundel Gate on Monday 20th&nbsp;March 2023 and will restrict the number of cars that can enter the city centre from the Novotel Hotel.
