Margaret Lamb, 71, a retired chef from Sheffield said: \u201cWe needed something like this in the city. We\u2019ve been under-funded since the \u201880s and things like this slowly drag the city up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI couldn\u2019t tell you what it\u2019s being used for but I\u2019m a huge advocate for that lovely caf\u00e9.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yusuf Raasch, 26, a software engineer from Sheffield, said: \u201cI\u2019m in love with it already to be honest, it\u2019s a comfortable setting for me to do my work and sit to do online meetings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The design for the building achieved \u2018outstanding\u2019 on the BREEAM assessment, a method for measuring the environmental sustainability of buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s made to be carbon net-zero, using electricity to do all its heating and cooling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Richard Parr, 54, Senior Project manager, said: \u201cThe building is open and accessible for everyone to utilise. It\u2019s a major building and it\u2019s centrally located within the city.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s a real feature for the city. It\u2019s something to celebrate,\u201d added Ms Armitage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite starting in spring 2019, the construction was only completed in December 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Wave has four stories and the largest among the faculties integrated into the building is the department of Journalism Studies, which will be moving from 9 Mappin Street over the summer period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Parr explained that the legacy equipment will be transferred across to The Wave, but will be supplemented by new technology as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
