There&#8217;s also the issue of casualisation as well as over workload and having enough time to do our job. It&#8217;s insulting.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members say they are fighting for the \u201cFour Freedoms\u201d. This refers to the four places of improvement that UCU members are wishing to change: Pay, Equality, Casualisation, Workload.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Hayes said:&nbsp;\u201cWe are not really delivering the quality of education we want to. A lot of the focus is on the people doing the striking as they are the \u2018agents of destruction\u2019 but it&#8217;s always in the context of dispute and it&#8217;s always a last resort.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We need to ask what the other side can do to get us back to negotiations. We want to get back to providing high quality education.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Figures show that some teachers are facing up to cuts of \u00a37,000 due to lack of subsidisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">After the &#8220;insulting&#8221; offers to Barnsley College, UCU has decided to continue striking into early June with further dates to be confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/05\/Screenshot-2023-05-10-at-22.45.15-1-1024x728.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52280\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">This infographic displays the slow decline in wages for teachers since 2010. According to the Guardian, the average cut comes to \u00a36,600 due to bellow inflation wages.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If wages are not subsidised as inflation fluctuates, then it leaves employees receiving less pay.
