Dozens of bin bags have been found behind an industrial estate thought to have been used in the production of cannabis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The dump was discovered behind PureGym on Tuesday 13 February as it captured the attention of passersby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several large bags of compost were stacked alongside each other along with smaller packages containing a substance which resembled cannabis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Around 100 bin bags were first found dumped in Sheffield\u2019s River Sheaf and then transported behind PureGym Manton St, Sheaf Gardens near the city centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The finding prompted an investigation from the authorities to find out what the bags contained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Yorkshire Police said: \u201cWe were called to separate reports on Monday 29th of January and Tuesday 13th of February of bags containing cannabis being discovered in the River Sheaf and Riverside Park industrial estate on Duchess Road in Sheffield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It was initially believed that the bags were filled with cannabis plants but upon inspection it was deemed they were instead filled with compost waste and there was no evidence of cannabis in the bags.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bags actually contained piles of general rubbish, regular compost and paraphernalia that the Police do not believe has been used in the production of cannabis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They have since been removed and enquiries remain ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
