The aim of the day is to bring people and communities together to raise money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day has been dubbed \u2018Theo\u2019s Pyjama Day,\u2019 in regard to the Hospital\u2019s mascot, Theo the teddy bear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/unnamed-2-2-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55333\" style=\"width:594px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/unnamed-2-2-980x653.jpg 980w, https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/unnamed-2-2-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Hospital staff wearing their PJ&#8217;s.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>Lucy Cain, Community Fundraising Manager said: \u201cPJ Day is one of our favourite days of the year at the hospital.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe love seeing so many people getting involved by wearing their pyjamas, comfies, dressing gowns and slippers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe hospital staff also get involved as well and it really does bring people together to raise awareness and money for Sheffield&#8217;s Children.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She believes it does make a difference in the vital funds the hospital needs to provide care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/unnamed-4-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55329\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/unnamed-4-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/unnamed-4-980x735.jpg 980w, https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/unnamed-4-480x360.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Hospital staff photographed with Theo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the youngest contributors was four-year-old Willow, who has received substantial care from the hospital over the last few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Willow was diagnosed with X-linked hypophosphatemia rickets, a rare disorder, affecting only one in 20,000 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Willow is now in her first year of school and has collected 15 Theo teddy bears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dedication and care given by the hospital motivated her and her family to fundraise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Willow\u2019s whole playgroup was involved in the day and she even insisted on walking around her local supermarket in Wakefield to gather more donations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many schools got involved in the fundraising, including Woodseats Primary School in Chesterfield, who raised over \u00a3483 by asking students to bring in \u00a32 if they wore their Pyjamas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jack Fellowes, headteacher of the school said: \u201cWe were delighted with the kindness of our community for our recent fundraiser.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that the School Parliament chose to fundraise for the Hospital because of the close connection many children shared to it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Fellowes said: \u201cSo many of our children talked about the amazing care they have received over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are so lucky to have such an amazing place so close to us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information and to find out when the next Pyjama Day will be visit: <a href=\"https:\/\/events.tchc.org.uk\/event\/teamtheospjday2024\/home\" title=\"follow this link\">https:\/\/events.tchc.org.uk\/event\/teamtheospjday2024\/home<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sheffield Children&#8217;s Hospital is raising money by asking people to wear their pyjamas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":579,"featured_media":55335,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[17,415,18,21,85],"tags":[64,15,1239,38,131],"class_list":["post-55310","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-charity","category-community","category-health","category-news","category-top-story-2","tag-charity","tag-news","tag-pyjamas","tag-sheffield","tag-south-yorkshire"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.1.1 -
