A Public Art Walk was held in Sheffield where people gathered to tour the city centre and view the talent of renowned artists.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The walk was hosted on Saturday by Sheffield Civic Trust and Sheffield Heritage Open Days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rob Lee, 40, artist from Sheffield said: \u201cTo hear that people are actually touring round and appreciating all works in the city is very humbling.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rob previously won the Keith Hayman Award for Public Art and had a significant influence on some of Sheffield\u2019s vibrant buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said: \u201cIt means a lot to have won the award and to be recognised for the work that I do, especially as design plays such an important role in my work.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

His work, particularly his murals such as those on Eldon Street and Howard Street, were viewed as part of the walk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Murals by Phlegm, who is a Welsh-born Sheffield-based muralist, were also a part of the art walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rob said: \u201cThe euphoric feeling of completing a large mural that took a massive amount of work can’t be matched, it makes me happy knowing there are dedicated tours to enjoy mine and other artists’ work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendees gathered at SALT Sheffield to begin the four hour event from 1pm to 5pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 40 artworks, including those which were nominated for the Keith Hayman Public Art Award, were showcased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual award given by Sheffield Design Awards and Sheffield Civic Trust has been around for a decade. This award has given recognition to artists who have contributed to Sheffield\u2019s atmosphere throughout the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A budget of over 200k is being put in place for Public Art in Sheffield, with the aim to support public art around the city, and hopefully encourage new businesses into vacant shopfronts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
