{"id":56820,"date":"2024-03-01T14:35:10","date_gmt":"2024-03-01T14:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/?p=56820"},"modified":"2024-03-01T14:58:13","modified_gmt":"2024-03-01T14:58:13","slug":"community-reacts-to-brand-new-neighbourhood-development-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/03\/01\/community-reacts-to-brand-new-neighbourhood-development-plans\/","title":{"rendered":"Community reacts to brand new neighbourhood development plans"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Today Sheffield City Council has announced that they will be spending \u00a367m on two new neighbourhoods at Furnace Hill and Neepsend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The council announced the funding at the Convention of the North event in Leeds today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The money has been allocated to bring in 1,300 new homes, commercial spaces and to lead major redevelopment of these areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Councillor Tom Hunt, Leader of Sheffield City Council, said:\u00a0\u201cThis major investment will help to create two new city centre neighbourhoods on brownfield land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Importantly, we have also put down a marker for support from the next round of the Government\u2019s Affordable Homes Programme, to ensure a minimum of 20% of these new homes is truly affordable accommodation which is within the reach of everyone.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was announced on Twitter and Facebook and so far the community has had mixed reactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FSheffCityCouncil%2Fposts%2Fpfbid0wiJhEUEV2FEqnfEecANKNxZ2jqsTgLncT6n4DAknxiUE87h6D3gqhmu28pB8zcXRl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"560\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One user said: \u201cAnother 1,300 over-priced homes that no one will be able to afford due to the area they are being built in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rob Wilson said: \u201cThis is good news. For once.
