Burgerland, a well-known takeaway restaurant located on Crookes Road in Broomhill, has suddenly closed, shocking many of the locals.
The restaurant has given no official statement of their closure, with their website still showing their opening times and encouraging people to order.
However, online, the restaurant is shown as \u2018temporarily closed\u2019 but provides no further information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Burgerland has been open in Broomhill since 2018, with their website describing them as a \u2018family run takeaway\u2019 who have operated in the takeaway business over generations to provide customers with the ‘juiciest and most scrumptious meals’.
It has been a popular destination for university students in recent years, offering a wide range of meals such as burgers, pizzas, kebabs, buffalo wings and wraps.
But local customers are fearful that this may be the last we see of the restaurant.
Broomhill resident Asal Nouri said: \u201cWhen I moved to the Broomhill area, Burgerland had just opened. It was the first takeaway I had in my new house. It\u2019s quite sad that it’s closed but I\u2019m not that surprised. Hopefully it finds a way to reopen as I\u2019m sure I am not the only one who loved their food.\u201d
Jack Taboda, who lives round the corner from Burgerland, said: \u201cI walked past the restaurant yesterday and it looked like a haunted house. It\u2019s quite clear that the restaurant has just been abandoned but I wish they could\u2019ve given more information to their customers”.
“It doesn\u2019t surprise me that Burgerland has gone, especially after what happened with Balti King last year. It seems borderline impossible for local restaurants to succeed right now, with everything going on.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Burgerland isn\u2019t the only takeaway restaurant in Broomhill to close in the last year. Iconic Indian restaurant ‘Balti King’ closed its doors last February after 33 years in business.
