The Prime Minister visited a Wetherspoons pub in Rotherham yesterday to discuss with locals about how they will be impacted by his spring budget announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rishi Sunak was at The Queens Hotel pub in Maltby during his ‘fleeting visit’ to South Yorkshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sat alongside Alexander Stafford, Rother Valley’s MP, the media asked the PM questions surrounding topics such as devolution, women’s safety, jobs and elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Prime Minister insisted that the people of Rother Valley \u201care getting the investment and the support that they need.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since its creation in 1918, Rother Valley had always elected a Labour MP, but all that changed when the so-called red wall crumbled in 2019, and Alexander Stafford became the first Conservative MP for the constituency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sunak insisted that Rother Valley will re-elect a Conservative MP in the next general election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: \u201cWe\u2019ve got a fantastic local MP. Alex does a fantastic job of championing local communities in Parliament and he\u2019s delivering for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis government is delivering for them, \u00a312m of funding for Dinnington, just over \u00a35m already here in Maltby, and we\u2019re having conversations about what Alex would like to do in future that\u2019s going to help regenerate and improve the town centres and local communities, provide opportunities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sunak also visited Doncaster yesterday and was interviewed on BBC Radio 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
