Sheffield Housing Policy Committee is committed to continue its partnership with the Roundabout Charity for the Rough Sleeper Initiative Programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In support of the Government\u2019s strategy to End Rough Sleeping, Sheffield City Council was awarded over \u00a34,000,000 by the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) to fund the programme over three years, from April 2022 to March 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, the Housing Committee met to propose the spending of \u00a377,563 from the Rough Sleepover Programme Grant. This will enable Primary Care Sheffield to continue providing the NHS Nurse provision for a further 12 months from July 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A report to the committee said: \u201cThe proposal will have a positive impact for the city and will support rough sleepers, who may distrust any form of establishment. NHS Nurse will engage with people who sleep rough on the streets and at community outreach centres.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFeedback from the current service informs us that interacting with and receiving healthcare in this less formal environment promotes trust for other essential rough sleeping services.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Roundabout Charity recognises the rise of rough sleepers in Sheffield, which is why they joined the Sheffield City Council programme two years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, the charity supports continues to supports over 350 young people aged 16-25 every day in Sheffield and Rotherham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also raises money via events as part of their aim to end youth homelessness in South Yorkshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alongside the programme, The Night Owls sleepover will take place at the Sheffield Wednesday football ground in Hillsborough on Friday 22nd March from 8pm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sleepover aims to raise funds for more charitable homeless causes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
