Theatre Deli opens five days a week to support artists and communities in Sheffield and offers a free three-course vegan meal every Friday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They have paused their spring performances and caf\u00e9 expansion plans due to financial difficulty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This comes at the same time as the foodbank based at St Mary’s community church temporarily shut down, which is also believed to be due to financial issues. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Steven Colton, a 68-year-old user of both services and former volunteer cook at St Marys said: \u201cThrough St Mary’s social supermarket you could get \u00a330 worth of food for \u00a34. Families rely on it. People won\u2019t get by without it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the first nine months of Theatre Deli\u2019s one year existence, the community caf\u00e9 ran on a budget of \u00a31,500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Volunteer Morwenna Carlin said: \u201cIt was a huge stress. It was winter so we had less volunteers. People tend to be more drained and depressed in winter and have less energy to give.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
