A prolific shoplifter has been jailed for 12 months for stealing beer, crisps, chocolate and laundry detergents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 26-year-old admitted to 19 counts of theft over a 15 day period, adding up to \u00a31,250 worth of products. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jordan Grimes, of Balby Road, Balby targeted one shop: a One Stop in Wheatley, stealing random items on each occasion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The thefts were caught on CCTV and on the 29th of April he was arrested by police. He appeared in Doncaster Magistrate’s court the next day, admitting all charges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sergeant Martin Maw, of Doncaster Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This is an encouraging result for the team and I know many retailers in the city will breathe a sigh of relief knowing Grimes is behind bars for the foreseeable future.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The idea that shoplifting is a victimless crime couldn’t be further from the truth, and Grimes’ offending had a huge impact on the store he targeted relentlessly.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Workers shouldn’t have to deal with thieves in their line of work and I hope this sentence sends out a clear warning to shoplifters in Doncaster.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
