Over 50 leagues from England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland enter annually and are divided into two tiers with matches spanning across the whole year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Hellcats won their first game against the Wiltshire Roller Derby, who Dundee will also be playing on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Miss Abbott, nicknamed \u2018Abattoir\u2019, said: \u201cDundee are old track acquaintances having played them back in 2016, it was definitely time for a rematch!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDundee are a strong team, who although are playing two games, there’s no assumption they will be an easy opponent and we will have to keep our heads firmly in the game at all times, hopefully securing a second win under our belts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Hellcat\u2019s second game was against the Newcastle Canny Belters which they lost 238-54, their biggest defeat in over five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Miss Abbot, 36, said: \u201cThey well and truly belted us, they played incredibly strong and tactically to not allow us to score at all. They really deserve their number one spot this season.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Hallam Hellcats, founded in 2012, is a \u2018close-knit\u2019 team of women and non-binary individuals who have a \u2018real sense of community\u2019 ingrained in their team values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When asked about the roller derby community in Sheffield, Miss Abbott said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSheffield has many sports venues yet for grass root sports such as roller derby, the city does price out many options available and across the UK this has led to roller derby teams folding due to rising costs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
