Sheffield’s ‘famous’ food festival is due to make its annual return for the upcoming bank holiday weekend, starting on Saturday 25 May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sheffield Food Festival 2024 is free to attend, taking over ‘half of the city’, including the Peace Gardens, Millennium and Town hall squares and Kingston street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It has been returning to the city centre for over 10 years to showcase ‘the finest food and drinks in Sheffield’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event aims to celebrate South Yorkshire’s diverse food scene and quality produce of local businesses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The festival will honour new artists that management have scouted from local venues to perform on one of two stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Noemi Antonelli, Swan events manager, said: “We aim to celebrate Sheffield being crowned ‘best foodie hotspot’ in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Expect over 60 food traders, two live music stages, free arts and crafts activities and the best food in Sheffield.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whilst the event turn-out is weather dependant, the management team anticipate up to 50,000 attendee’s across the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Miss Antonelli said that the event has received Arts Council funding, which has enabled the event to host a wider variety of local artists, including a 10 piece brass-band which will be seen walking around the city centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“If you didn’t know Sheffield Food Fest was happening, you’d be crazy not to but in case you didn’t, the brass band has got it covered.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sheffield based legends including Frazer Coffee Roasters and Caribbean Fusion are just a few examples of local businesses the event will be hosting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Noemi said: “We have been partnering with Sheffield Hallam University students who will be working with us to host the festival. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We also have a lot of new businesses across the north coming along, which is exciting.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The food festival has paired with local charities and universities to guarantee the public ‘everything Sheffield has to offer’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This will be the 12th year the festival will return to the city centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
