Events include, film-screenings of films such as the lesbian rom-com ‘Saving Face’ and the Oscar winning ‘Moonlight’ as well as self-care activities and opportunities for community engagement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On its Instagram the Showroom posted: \u201cThe events encourage participants to reflect on their personal journeys, connect with others, and envision a future built on pride and inclusivity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme began on the first of the month and is looking to continue until February 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A local drag performer named Emma Maezin <\/a>took to the stage this Wednesday to host a bingo event as part of the celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She said: \u201cBingo itself is already a great way to bring people together to play for a prize, an escape and a gamble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPeople naturally enjoy taking a little risk and when you add drag on top it becomes a whole new experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Her first collaboration with the local cinema was to help promote their previous screening of the musical \u2018Everybody\u2019s Talking About Jamie\u2019 which began in Sheffield before taking to the West End. <\/p>\n\n\n\n She said: \u201cShowroom are fantastic at supporting the local arts with drag bingo, comedy nights and independent screenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI thank the Showroom for giving us their space to create a fun, inclusive event for the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The programme hopes to influence the local community to become a more inclusive environment for all generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Maezin said: \u201cOne can never truly know their own impact but all it takes is one person who dares to chase their dreams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI believe if people attend drag bingo they will leave feeling refreshed, hopeful and merry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAll it takes is for a person to see a drag queen to help them realise its okay to be themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n \u266c original sound – Emma Maezin<\/a><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/blockquote>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/original-293F3619-AF3E-4B26-AF82-F9554D6C7F78-1-771x1024.jpg\"){kind=spacer}
