A new safety campaign has been launched by Sheffield\u2019s Supertram to increase awareness for pedestrians when crossing tram tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The campaign is called \u2018Two Lines = Stop\u2019 and is written on yellow boards to encourage people to look both ways at double line crossings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Michelle Kelly, who has been a tram driver for two and a half years, explained how often people walk out without looking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said: \u201cBasically every single shift, every single day, it\u2019s all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey\u2019ve got the headphones on most of the time, I don\u2019t understand why you just wouldn\u2019t look, it makes no sense at all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, she emphasised that \u2018the safety team at Supertram does the best\u2019 to address these issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The yellow boards are placed across Shalesmoor, University of Sheffield, Cathedral, Castle Square, Fitzalan Square and Sheffield Station.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They will eventually move to other areas like Birley Lane, Crystal Peaks, Arena and Centertainment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
