Sheffield\u2019s famous underground music venue, Hope Works, announced that it will close its doors at the end of the month after 12 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This has sparked concern amongst local artists and music lovers, with many questions about where Sheffield\u2019s underground music scene will go from here. However, for some, the closure presents an opportunity for change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emily Martin, 19, an events promoter and trainee DJ from Highfield said: \u2018\u2019It is a shame that it\u2019s closing, but I think I\u2019m excited for what\u2019s to come, especially for the music community.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded by Liam O\u2019Shea, Hope Works became a staple of Sheffield\u2019s nightlife. It is known for its raw industrial aesthetic and cutting-edge sound system. Over the years, it has hosted international acts like Floating Points, Helena Hauff, and Mall Grab, as well as homegrown talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement released, Liam O’Shea said: ”Something needed to change in order for me to expand my work into new areas and have time for my family, and that change was to sadly let Hope Works be put to rest.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
