A beloved Sheffield cat’s shelter has been burned down overnight in Parkhill, Sheffield. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Garfield, who was in the shelter during the time of the fire, managed to survive the ordeal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to some residents, he was saved by an individual who managed to kick the shelter over, allowing the cat to break free from the fire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Garfield has not suffered any major injuries from the fire, however some people have given descriptions of the cat suffering singes to his whiskers and fur. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local resident Jihn Omer said: “The news is very sad. He is quite famous. He is a lovely cat.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cat has had an Instagram Account dedicated to him and has become a beloved staple of Parkhill and the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another person added: “There used to just be a little box with a cat bed in it, then someone bought the lovely house for Garfield. It’s such an evil thing to do, I can’t believe that someone has done this.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is believed that the cat does have an owner, but decides to live outside. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A third person commented: “I saw Garfield everyday walking to work. Every time I walked past, there were people giving him things like water or treats. It was so cute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It feels like part of the community has been lost. It’s horrible.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Yorkshire Police’s involvement in the incident is currently unknown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
