{"id":62593,"date":"2025-02-27T14:49:49","date_gmt":"2025-02-27T14:49:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/?p=62593"},"modified":"2025-02-27T14:49:50","modified_gmt":"2025-02-27T14:49:50","slug":"sheaf-and-porter-rivers-trust-work-to-restore-the-river-sheaf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/02\/27\/sheaf-and-porter-rivers-trust-work-to-restore-the-river-sheaf\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheaf and Porter Rivers Trust work to restore the River Sheaf"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A memorial of Sheffield\u2019s Sheaf Wheel was restored in recognition of the work of the Sheaf and Porter Rivers Trust, on Saxon Road last Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People gathered to watch the unveiling of the wheel by Alex Jackson, who worked alongside the SPR Trust to improve the health of the River Sheaf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheffield\u2019s rivers were polluted heavily during the industrial period and the SPR Trust have been working to re-naturalise the rivers, preserve their natural beauty and reduce risk of flooding.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alex Jackson is managing director of the Wolf Safety Lamp Company, which has been situated next to the River Sheaf since 1933.
