{"id":62646,"date":"2025-02-28T12:46:30","date_gmt":"2025-02-28T12:46:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/?p=62646"},"modified":"2025-02-28T14:49:50","modified_gmt":"2025-02-28T14:49:50","slug":"hillsborough-councillor-is-calling-for-tramlines-to-do-more-to-repair-local-park-paths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/02\/28\/hillsborough-councillor-is-calling-for-tramlines-to-do-more-to-repair-local-park-paths\/","title":{"rendered":"Hillsborough councillor calls for Tramlines to do more to repair park paths"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Residents and councillors believe Tramlines money isn\u2019t stretching far enough as paths throughout Hillsborough Park need restoring.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They told Shef News that they  believe Tramlines should be doing more to restore the park after its use, due to&nbsp;paths across the park being damaged with potholes and cracks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Green party councillor Toby Mallison, 61, who represents the Hillsborough area, said: \u201cTramlines is very polarising &#8211; very popular with some residents and unpopular with others.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It has benefited the park with improvements that generally benefit Tramlines such as new paths, and essential drainage works.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;However, as the events of 2023 demonstrate, Tramlines are a big risk to the park too. My main worry is a recurrance of 2023.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"242\" height=\"344\" src=\"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Captura-de-pantalla-2023-12-12-a-las-21.50.25.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62652\" style=\"width:416px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Captura-de-pantalla-2023-12-12-a-las-21.50.25.png 242w, https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Captura-de-pantalla-2023-12-12-a-las-21.50.25-211x300.png 211w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 242px) 100vw, 242px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Councillor Toby Mallison<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2023 Tramlines received backlash due to the aftermath of the festival causing major disruption and damage to the park.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Certain areas and paths\u00a0throughout the park have now been restored by Tramlines but only\u00a0 if it is in line with the perimeter of the festiva, with some areas left damaged. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One mum, who did not wish to be named, uses the park daily told Shef news this effects her route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> She said: \u201cDefinitely the path from Middlewood Road leading to a left to the library and right down to Broughton, it\u2019s very damaged. I have to avoid that hole with the pram every day.\u201c&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"713\" src=\"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_0146-1024x713.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62656\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_0146-1024x713.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_0146-980x682.jpg 980w, https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_0146-480x334.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Path from Middlewood Road leading to a left to the library  of the park <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Resident Ian Brownhill said: \u201cAs much as Tramlines are good economically for the area, They must be held more accountable for the damage caused. Prevention is far cheaper than repair and this should include the whole area of the park.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coun Mallison continued: \u201cThe endless squeeze on council budgets affects maintenance and works in our parks.\u00a0 Things take longer to repair.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Work in the parks often rely on grant applications. It would be good to have sufficient maintenance and a small work budget. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We can and will always ask tramlines to do more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery alignwide has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"829\" height=\"1024\" data-id=\"62659\" src=\"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_0147-829x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62659\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Part of the park that is not classed in the festival premitors but still used by festival goes is highly damaged.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"823\" height=\"1024\" data-id=\"62660\" src=\"https:\/\/shefnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_0148-2-823x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62660\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The part of the park in the festival premitor path resurfaced and usuable. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Tramlines was approached for a new comment but didn\u2019t respond.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the damage in 2023, Tramlines said: \u201cThese works are an essential part of our commitment to Hillsborough Park.
