A volunteer group\u2019s project which has planted millions of trees in communities across the country is celebrating its 10th<\/sup> anniversary this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), a nationwide environmental organisation based in Doncaster, set up the \u2018I Dig Trees\u2019<\/a> scheme in 2015 to encourage people to get involved in protecting and connecting with their local green spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project provides volunteers with free \u2018pocket forest\u2019 packs to plant native trees in their communities as a way of taking positive action in fighting climate change and creating new habitats for wildlife, particularly in urban areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Events are held throughout the year up and down the UK, with nearly 9,000 community groups and over 140,000 volunteers taking part over the decade it has been run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
