This was celebrated on Thursday, May 22, at the new location, Ponti\u2019s Italian Kitchen in Fox Valley.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These monthly lunches bring older adults together to enjoy a meal, entertainment, and companionship, helping to combat loneliness and social isolation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative is backed by local GPs and the NHS through social prescribing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mrs Marwick was inspired to act after recognising the isolation many elderly people face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said: \u201cOverall, we\u2019re making a difference to people\u2019s lives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event also featured live music from Barnsley musician Oliver Harris, which many of the guests enjoyed and had been looking forward to.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Dementia awareness week highlighted locally with Sheffield Friendship Lunch\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Nu61rLYCe_g?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dementia Action Week 2025 runs from May 19 to 25, aiming to raise awareness and support for those affected by dementia across the UK.
