The venue that once housed the beloved Leadmill nightclub is reopening its doors tonight under new management after closing in June 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Electric Studios will make its debut with a launch club night featuring producer Wilkinson alongside drum and bass heavyweights Camo & Krooked, Culture Shock and Harriet Jaxxon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the team behind The Leadmill have recently launched a crowdfunding campaign in a bid to reopen the venue in a new location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It thanks everyone who attended an event at the Leadmill and asks people to ensure its legacy can continue for future generations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sheffield residents Anita and Tony, said they believe crowdfunding is a good idea and think that people will want to support the cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s part of the fabric,\u201d Tony said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anita added: \u201cThe Leadmill had some fab bands in the old days.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pair expressed a feeling shared by many in Sheffield \u2014 that the venue was a major part of the city\u2019s music and nightlife scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the 45 years it was open for, it helped launch the career of local favourites Arctic Monkeys and hosted performances from major acts including Muse and Coldplay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since the venue\u2019s closure, many of Sheffield\u2019s university students have also expressed disappointment, saying they miss The Leadmill and its club nights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tom, a student at the University of Sheffield said: \u201cIt\u2019s hard to replace a venue that\u2019s been a staple of Sheffield for so many years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI had some of the best nights out at the Leadmill\u201d he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another resident described it as an iconic venue for music fans and said they remember Arctic Monkeys growing in popularity after performing there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now Electric Studios is taking over the historic building, hoping to continue its legacy with a programme of live music and club nights planned throughout the coming year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It has already sold out multiple gigs such as Levellers, an English folk rock and anarcho-punk band who are set to play in May, and St Etienne set to play in September. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The venue says it aims to host touring artists while also showcasing local talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Electric Studios is also planning a creative programme, offering opportunities for young artists to practise and develop new music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A visual arts programme featuring Sheffield-based artists is also expected to launch later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n
