A multi-million pound tram station to be built outside of Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham is due to open on April 7th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scheme, which has been funded by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) in partnership with Supertram and Network Rail, began work in March 2025 and is set to provide easy access to the Magna Science Adventure Centre, one of the most popular family attractions in South Yorkshire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new station will also build on previous travel links between Sheffield and Rotherham, with the project being the first new stop on the Supertram network since 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leader of Rotherham Council, Councillor Chris Read, said: \u201cThe new Tram station at Magna is a major step forward for Rotherham and the wider region – improving the way our public transport network works, and strengthening our plans for more jobs and homes along the corridor along Templeborough and beyond.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Part of the project’s aim according to SYMCA is to \u201caddress major congestion in the Templeborough area between Rotherham and Sheffield particularly at Junction 34 of the M1\u201d,\u00a0 and \u201cprotect the area\u2019s Air Quality Management Areas\u201d, as part of the cities\u2019 obligation to the Environment Act 1995.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
