A nine-year-old boy is running the equivalent of nine marathons to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oliver, from Barnsley, is fundraising for the charity after they helped his family navigate his dad’s brain tumour diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His father, Tom Smith, was 40 when he was diagnosed with a 4cm meningioma tumour, which was discovered after he lost nearly all of his vision in one eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Brain Tumour Charity helped Oliver and his family with support and information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to give back, Oliver decided to tackle an epic marathon training programme and he has easily exceeded his \u00a32000 fundraising target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His father said: \u201cI know he\u2019s only nine but he\u2019s been running since he was four and endurance activities are just what he does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe finished third in Yorkshire for his age group in 2024 so he\u2019s a fit lad and that\u2019s why this running challenge is something he wanted to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m so proud of Oliver. I\u2019m not in the position to do these things myself so the fact that people are supporting us is amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oliver had raised over \u00a311,000 and is keeping people updated with his progress on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has been awarded with a Heart Yorkshire Heroes award and been nominated for another local prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
