Police have issued a warning to all uninsured drivers in Sheffield as they crackdown on road safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, South Yorkshire Police are cracking down on road safety as part of a national initiative to reduce the risk of road accidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roads Policing Sergeant Martyn Micklethwaite said: \u201cPeople often see driving without insurance as a victimless crime, but the reality is it\u2019s devastating\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese drivers are more likely to be reckless and take risks, causing serious and fatal collisions and leaving families and our communities shattered and heartbroken.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uninsured drivers could face court appearances and driving bans as well as a minimum \u00a3300 fine and six penalty points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Motor Insurers\u2019 Bureau there is an average of 300,000 uninsured vehicles on UK roads every day. As vehicles may be uninsured for months at a time the total number across the year is over one million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
