So what they need to do is find a private sector solution.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re prepared to take risk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" height=\"591\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>South Yorkshire Mayor, Oliver Coppard, approved a \u00a3160m funding package back in September 2025 in support of re-opening the airport.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a Facebook post, Coppard said that the council was aware of the \u2018risks\u2019 involved in reopening DSA, and warned that attempts from Reform councillors to cancel that funding would \u2018kill the project\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=314&#038;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F1522462399406733%2F&#038;show_text=true&#038;width=560&#038;t=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"429\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority have declined to comment at this stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, DSA welcomed the Boeing 727, which became the
