Sheffield City Council have held a consultation in their hopes to connect Sheffield.
The new route would link Neepsend – Kelham – City Centre
The consultation, which ended on 3 March, was a new approach designed to transform travel throughout Sheffield, via high-quality cycling paths, walking infrastructure and improved routes for bus services and public transport.
Their promise was to also make environmental improvements.
Kelham Island has become a huge hit among tourists, making it a vibrant visitor destination.
The hope is that connecting the 3 areas of Sheffield should help to accelerate the development of Neepsend and Kelham.
The proposed measures would help Neepsend and Kelham become an ‘Active Neighbourhood’, with lower traffic volumes, turning the space into a safer and more pleasant area for events and cafes.
Some local residents do not feel that this proposal will work, and many say it would be a waste of public spending.

The improved environment plans for cycling and walking through the ‘active neighbourhood’ in Neepsend and Kelham would continue along Russell Street through a section of landscaping.
The proposed plan would liven up the area with landscaping, planting and new trees to be added along the routes around West Bar.
