A South Yorkshire woman has started a pet food bank in hope of supporting the people of Sheffield and their pets.

Alison Smith, 33, is already juggling two other jobs as a pet sitter and climbing centre employee and has been swept off her feet since starting the food bank just a few weeks ago.

Originally from Dinnington, Alison is a self-proclaimed insomniac who says she came up with the idea at 2am one morning and has been putting the wheels in motion ever since.

She said: “There’s a massive need for food banks at the moment but nothing really to support families that have pets.”

Shef News spoke to Alison and others who have been involved to hear more about the issue and what they’re doing to help.
