A new pub in Sheffield intends to take on Wetherspoons pound for pound, amid the cost-of-living crisis.

The Bulldog Value Bar is due to open today, from 4pm at the old Sport Shack sports bar on Chesterfield Road, Woodseats. It is the creation of Danny Grayson, who is the owner of what he called a “cheap and cheerful” sports pub.

Danny has been in the bar industry for over 30 years said: “I don’t think people will be popping champagne this year, they need to be cheered up. My pub will do exactly that.”

Everything is cheaper than Wetherspoons or price matched.

Danny said: “Now is not the time to be afraid of what this year will bring, come out, see friends regardless of the bills.”

Wetherspoons have been selling alcohol cheap for two decades. The Bulldog Value Bar is looking to take on the mantle going forward. Owner Danny wants to “stack the drinks high and sell it quick”.

The Bulldog Value Bar is located two doors away from The Woodseats Wetherspoons pub. A cup of tea and two toast will cost £2.99, with free refills on tea and coffee. The Bar will have four HD TV screens, darts and music.
