Rotherham Real Ale and Music Festival returns for another year of booze, beats and bargains.

Over 150 real ales and ciders will be available to guests as well as a host of live bands.

Steve Burns, the organiser of the Rotherham Real Ale and Music Festival, said: “We like to give people the chance to try something they haven’t tried before.”

Since starting in 1993, the festival has been regarded as one of the largest of its kind in the country with at least 8,000 people expected to attend this year’s event.

Those performing at the festival have expressed their excitement as they count down the days until they take the stage.

Jack Flynn, a member of the band Floodhounds, said: “We’re really looking forward to it. It felt amazing to put some filthy riffs through the enormous sound system last year.”

Floodhounds are hoping to use their performance to inspire people to become more involved in the musical world.

Mr Flynn said: “In a world where we’re glued to our phones, it’s nice to focus on something creative that puts you back in the moment.”

Members of the public are able to attend the festival for £12 with all profits going to Rotherham Cancer Care.

Mr Burns said: “You could pay £26 or £28 to see some of these bands at the City Hall but here it’s just £12 and you get a beer festival thrown in.”

The spectacle will take place at the Magna Centre from Thursday 23rd February – Saturday 25th February.
