Sheffield United will be hosting a parade next week, to celebrate their promotion to the Premier League.

The players will be travelling in an open-top bus through Sheffield city centre to celebrate. The parade will be in partnership with Sheffield City Council to mark the occasion. The team will then attend a celebratory reception at Sheffield Town Hall.

When and where will the parade take place?

The bus will leave Bramall Lane at 5.30pm on Thursday 11 May and will take an hour journey around the city centre before arriving at the town hall.

The roads along the route will be closed off allowing a traffic-free zone for fans to gather to welcome the team.

Season ticket holder Tom McKinnon said: “Me and my mates are all going to the parade. It’ll be class.

“The atmosphere will be great. I think the whole of Sheffield is on a high right now, except for the Wednesday supporters, of course.”

When did Sheffield United get promoted?

On 26 April the Blades took on West Bromwich Albion at home where they won 2-0 with goals from Ndiaye and Baldock.

Mr McKinnon said: “The scenes after the West Brom game were unreal. Everyone stayed out after the game for a pint, everyone was singing and cheering.”

How did Sheffield United play this season?

Sheffield United won 27 of their Championship games and have a final game left against Birmingham City on 8 May. They finished second to Burnley.

Mr McKinnon said: “We played really well this season, we had some really good additions to the team.

“I can’t wait for next season. I’m buzzing. I think it’ll be hard but I think we are ready for it.”

Full details of any road closures caused by the parade will be released in due course.
