Despite the vital role they play in our city’s transportation system, taxi drivers in Sheffield face unique challenges, both on and off the road.
As most taxi drivers are self employed, obstacles like long waiting times at the Gp and phone queues for booking an appointment prevent access to good health. Hence they are reluctant to take health as priority.
42 year old Azeeze – “We work long hours, often sitting for extended periods of time. It’s not easy, and sometimes, health concerns are put on the back burner.”
The study showed that taxi drivers are at higher risk for various health issues, including musculoskeletal problems and stress-related conditions. However, many are hesitant to seek medical care due to factors such as time constraints and financial worries
The reluctance to seek medical care can have serious consequences, not only for the drivers themselves but also for public safety.
