This month’s edition of Steam Kitchen Street Food Market will open this evening and run across the weekend.
The traders open for business from today will include; El Chappo (Mexican), St.Marcino Pizzeria, Chimichurri Steak & loaded fries, Pavs Dhaba (Indian), Flat Donuts (Loaded donuts), Taste of Korea, The Love Greek co. and drinks bar.
The organisers, best friends Suzy Futerlon and Louise Glover, who run The Steamworks Company, said: “This is our fourth event. In March over the three days we had 5,000 people attending, so almost full to capacity.
“However, it is a spacious venue with plenty of tables so there’s no shortage of room for everyone to come and enjoy themselves.”
It’s free to go along and it will be open from 5pm – 11pm tonight, with opening hours increasing at the weekend to 12pm – 11pm on Saturday and 12pm – 8pm on Sunday, where there will be free activities for kids.
Those activities include giant games, projectors and a face painter on the Sunday. “All of this is free of course, just allows for everyone to come down and get involved.”
They’re aiming to create an “friendly, community vibe”, with veggies, vegans and coeliacs all catered to. Dogs are also allowed to attend – alongside kids who are welcomed until 8pm.
With major food markets across the city, Suzy and Louise explain that “lots of planning” ensure there is are diverse array of food choices for visitors, whilst avoiding any “conflict” between vendors in direct competition.
The market will take place on, 111 Randall Street, S2 4SJ.
