Sheffield Steel Roller Derby is having new intake session, any adult who is female identifying or non binary is welcomed to take part in the recruiting event.
The event will take place at 10:30am at Skate Central, which is where the team is based.
Dan Revill-Crookes, 27, Chair of Sheffield Steel Roller Derby said: “We have two recruitment cycles every year, as a sport, roller derby is very inclusive, it’s for everybody.”
“We often say that roller derby is especially for people who don’t like sports or didn’t do sports when they were younger. Our league is part of the WFPTDA, which is the womens flat track roller derby association, so essentially we are open to anybody who self identifies as women, we are catered to all different needs.”
No skates or skills are needed to take part in the try-out as there will be equipment available to hire.
The team is also is competing against Rebellion Roller Derby this Saturday as the finalists of Five Nations Tier Two South game, which is the first British roller derby tournament.
The team was first established in 2008, and it is Sheffield’s first and largest flat track roller derby league.
