A protest took place yesterday, where activists opposed the proposed construction of a new McDonald’s drive-thru.

The demonstration, organised by the Sheffield Green Party, stemmed from concerns surrounding the development’s proximity to a primary school and its adverse environmental impact.

It also aimed to highlight the fast-food chains’ ties to the Israeli army and their alleged ‘complicity in genocide’.

Lynsey Angel, an activist, said: “It’s important we give people a voice, they don’t want this here, and they should be able to do something about that.”

Organisers have encouraged those who were unable to attend to comment on the planning application, available until May 7th.

Sheffield City Council plan to submit a final decision in the coming months.
