A man who was allegedly attacked by a police dog is still waiting for a conclusion from his complaint against South Yorkshire Police to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC).

Alex Hoyland attended a charity boxing event in Sheffield on November 26 2023, but was ejected from the venue for ‘drunken disorder’ around 10pm.

He claimed he had begun to walk off to head home but was then arrested by police for criminal damage after allegedly damaging a taxi outside the venue.

The dog handler then deployed his dog, which immediately latched onto Alex’s leg.

17 months on, he is still waiting for an update from the Independent Office of Police Conduct after complaining to South Yorkshire Police about the incident.
