Hospital parking in Sheffield is under scrutiny following a substantial increase in ticket prices.

At the Northern General hospital, a day ticket has increased from £4 to £7 which has led to a petition with over 2,000 signatures which was founded by a band 5 nurse.

Andrew Jones, Facilities Director at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Parking charges for visitors and patients have regrettably increased for the first time since 2023 to reflect the rising costs of maintenance, staffing and keeping our car parks safe and secure.”

Shef News spoke to a student nurse at the University of Sheffield to hear the impact on hospital staff.
