An independent coffee shop situated on Broomhill have plans to set out new initiatives to get more students to buy from small businesses.

With the cost of living crisis at an all time high, many local cafes are struggling to compete with bigger coffee chains and increasing running costs.

Esther Richards, a barista at Nomad’s Cup, spoke to ShefNews about the importance of trying to get students to purchase from independent coffee shops rather than chains during the cost of living crisis.

‘We’re just trying to give students an excuse to support small businesses where they can as opposed to larger chains’.

One customer said: “Especially during the cost of living crisis, you have to support small businesses, they treat you so much better than chains.”
