The Canon Medical Arena hosted the inaugural 10 Cue Para Snooker Championships last week.

Players travelled from around the world to take part.

As part of the first para snooker championships, Stephen Harrison, founder of the Stephen Harrison Academy, put a new twist on the traditional game of snooker by reducing the number of balls and the size of the table to ensure entertaining, fast-natured matches.

Since 2007, Mr Harrison has attempted to make snooker accessible to all in Sheffield through his social enterprise.

He has utilised the game to provide entertainment, mentoring and employability support for a wide variety of disadvantaged groups.

Mr Harrison aims to make the 10 Cue Snooker World Championships an annual event in Sheffield, running alongside the Crucible each year.
